Welcome

Welcome to our House of Larrikins!

Hey there and welcome.

As the owner Learning Discovery, one of Australia’s largest children’s booksellers to the education market, I’ve been buying and selling children’s books for close to 30 years.

The next obvious step was to start a publishing imprint. The name Larrikin was the perfect fit because it fully encapsulates the heartbeat of what I love most about children’s books; kid-focussed humorous stories.

So far we’ve been described by others as ‘left of centre’, ‘cheeky’, ‘naughty’ & ‘quirky’. – Exactly what I had hoped for!

This year we published our first dozen or so picture books, with another twenty in production for 2021. (Covid was not going to stop us)

With new submissions coming in daily, watch this space for some great emerging Aussie talent. Over 80% of our books are from first-time published authors too!

We hope you love our books as much as we do. 🙂

Cheers,

James Layton
